BuiltbyMeanRed has developed a reputation for themselves, throwing heavy-hitting shows in cities across the country, but mainly in NYC and right here in the city. After coming through for a few great shows during Movement weekend last month, on Friday MeanRed returns to El Club with an extra special show featuring none other than Chief Keef, with support from Glo Gang, Detroit’s own Lana LaDonna, and HU DAT.
MeanRed is known for pulling rabbits out of a hat so to speak- I remember seeing Travi$ Scott do a one-off show at the Russell somewhere in the time between BITTSM and Astroworld, separate from any official tour. Sadly, there was no animatronic bird, but it was a chance to see an incredible artist on the cusp of worldwide superstardom at a very unique venue, albeit one that he will probably never play again.

Such is the case with Chief Keef’s performance, who is playing another seemingly one-off show in Detroit on the heels of a full collaborative project earlier this year with Zaytoven, featuring a surprising level of sentimental introspection from the notoriously hard-bodied rapper. He is nothing if not prolific as we have seen from his output the last few years, and fans are more than ready for this show as they’ve been anticipating the release of his upcoming project, Almighty So 2. With a dense catalogue to choose from and plenty of new music on the way, we’re excited to see what songs will make the set list.
Lana LaDonna has been making waves in Detroit as of recent, including aligning with APX Management, home of Supakaine, Perrier Rosewood, and several other talented named in the city. Her video for “Easy Freestyle” features her spitting over The Game’s “This is How We Do” beat, showcasing her unique style and magnetic confidence in her talent.
Another exciting addition to the lineup is Hu Dat, a DJ, A&R, event curator, and manager based between L.A. and N.Y.C. You can find her DJ’ing for some of the hottest up and coming musicians in the rap scene, including joining Lil Gotit on stage at Rolling Loud Miami earlier this year. Check out her interview from 2018 with SOB’s here.
