Phil Gammage – Redeemed

Recorded in three different towns, Phil Gammage‘s music video for the title track of this new album is surely an ambitious project. But does it pay off? Take a look (and listen) for yourself and let us know in the comments below.

From New Jersey staples (Wildwood & Asbury Park) to Kingston New York, there are tons of great clips in this sprawling, tightly edited music video for “Redeemed,” a song about a guy just trying to find salvation in a world of sprawling madness.

“No doubt this was one of the most fun videos to work on, and it also took the longest … one year,” Phil says. “Our patience payed off and all of the visuals are outstanding. The song is about one man’s search for redemption in his everyday life and it takes him to different places, thus the multiple location video shoots.”

With freeze frame focus and hard cuts of trippin’ in and out fades, this video is a fun one, and certainly a piece of media that highlights Phil’s search to move forward in a sea of abysmal feelings… like a muuuuuch more mellow Johnny Cash on a gospel acoustic bandwagon instead of uphill folk boogie.

Gammage still delivers some country flavor though, and his sentiment for hopeful ideals is refreshing in a world of such cynical modern music. He rejects irony in the face of a devoutly tongue and cheek internet age… and this simple to the point music video perfectly illustrates the mood of the song he wrote.

As a follow-up to his 2021 album From Nowhere to Somewhere, Redeemed is as smooth and reflective as Gammage gets, with his talent for spinning musical yarns about Americana front and center as his musical chops just add more emotion to his stories. Let’s hope he keeps making more music videos that continue to improve alongside his tunes!
