Having kicked off their ninth season at the end of May, House of Vans will continue it’s House Parties series throughout the summer with a diverse array of shows, including indie singer songwriter Julien Baker, singer-songwriter and pop sensation BANKS, seminal Vans Warped Tour alums Taking Back Sunday, the Grammy nominated Anderson.Paak, hardcore legends Converge, and more!VHP_2019_PRFLYERS6_15TheBreeders

This Weeknd’s show will feature none other than The Breeders, a band whose significance is deceptive given their apparent lack of critical acclaim. Originally started as a side-project, the alt-rock band based in Dayton, Ohio, is fronted by Kim Deal and her twin sister Kelley Deal, first formed by Kim Deal and Tanya Donelly in 1989 while they were still in their full-time bands, Pixies and Throwing Muses. However, The Breeders would quickly become Kim Deal’s primary recording outlet, with being the band’s sole continuous member; Kim’s twin sister Kelley Deal would join in 1992, and has remained in the band ever since.

From their website, courtesy of Neil Gaimen:

“People change over the years, and we hope that the we that is us never changes. Yesterday we were kids, and tomorrow we’ll be old, and we think we’re the same people we were, despite all evidence to the contrary.

But sometimes we play music that lets us be us then and us now and us still to come, and it’s all worth it, every minute, every aching second, every gaping now.”

The Breeders will join Vans on Saturday as a party of a series that is particularly enticing, with the headlining artist acting as a curator by hand-picking all supporting talent and creating a custom visual art experience for fans. On Friday, and can expect a one night only view of an immersive ‘All Nerve’ analogue installation by Chris Bigg, as well as music by Palehound and Divino Niño before The Breeders take the stage. The show promises to be another exciting experience as part of the larger summer program, which as a whole presents a wide range of styles and aesthetics that can appeal to most any music fan.
