Unlike previous VMAs, 2018’s show wasn’t the hit it’s been in the past.. but there were definitely some stand out moments and fashion hits.
JLo was the standout performer of the night performing a medley of some of her biggest hits. She received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award—and she looked amazing as always. Onstage JLo performed in a custom Versace bodysuit and then switched it up in a Versace track suit. She also stood out on the red carpet wearing a Swarovski crystal gown also by Versace.
Another fashion hit of the night was Cardi B who also took home the Best New Artist award. Motherhood looks good on Cardi, she rocked a pixie cut and a custom made velvet dress by Nicolas Jebran. Cardi also changed into another custom made ensemble by Azzi & Osta.
Other Celebs who rocked the VMA fashion were DJ Khalid’s wife Nicole and adorable son Asahd, who were all color coordinated. DJ Khalid won the VMA last night for Best Collaboration for JLo’s single “Dinero” featuring him and Cardi B. Kylie Jenner, Model Winnie Harlow who looked fabulous in Zuhair Murad. BeBe Rexha looked edgy and glam in a custom Christian Siriano two-piece dress. Music duo Chloe and Halle, who were nominated for 2 awards, also looked radiant.
Now there were also some stars on the carpet who missed the mark when it came to their red-carpet fashion. Teyana Taylor who has an amazing body really didn’t pull off her VMA look. She seemed to have repeated a look she did before that paid homage to Janet Jackson. This time she wore slightly different pants and another mid-drift top. Another fashion fail was Nicki Minaj, wearing a design by Off White that looked like a bathing suit more than a gown.
Other fashion misses wear Tiffany Haddish wearing Naeem Khan, Rita Ora in Jean Paul Gaultier. Amber Rose who wore a latex cat suit looked more like she was going to a Halloween Party versus an award show. Plus, we can’t forget Blac Chyna in a chainmail bra and g-string.
