New Year, New Plus Size Brand – L I V D

Just in time to welcome in the new year, new brand L I V D is trying to make a mark in the world of plus size fashion. L I V D is not new to the block – the company’s origins were founded in embellished club wear specifically for young contemporary sizes; however, after reading an article by award winning Project Runway co-host Tim Gunn, co-founder Jim Lee realized that the plus size market was deserving of his designing talent.

With the fashion industry’s neglect for plus size consumers and his own personal experience growing up as a “big boned” boy in mind, Lee created a brand determined to send body positive vibes throughout the industry. L I V D promises to use fashion as a tool to boost confidence, providing women with a more diverse selection of boundary pushing items.

What makes L I V D so exciting, aside from offering sizes 1X – 3X and partnering with Jazzmine Carthon of Project Runway Season 16, is the dedication that the brand has for bringing a voice to accessibility in plus size fashion. Next to providing curvier women with fashionable options, this brand wants to spark a paradigm shift in the minds of designers and manufactures, making them realize the plus size market is just as deserving of their time and investments.

L I V D is a tiny operation, spun from countless hours in LA showrooms and run by the Lee family that aims to create wide sweeping change across the industry as a whole, proving that this goal is a personal and important one to Lee.

I am excited to see the change this company will hopefully bring as well as seeing how they expand their size range to include sizes 4X and up. What pieces do you like from the collection? Let us know in the comments below!
