The Winners at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards

The Teen Choice Awards is an annual awards event that honors personalities in the fields of music, TV, and fashion for their contributions to pop culture. This year’s edition took place in August 2017 at Galen Center of University of Southern California. While the show did not have a host, electric performances by some of the biggest icons Like Lil Yachty, Rae Sremmurd, and Rita Ora in the music scene made the crowd jubilant and excited. Here’s a brief overview of the top winners.

Miley Cyrus took home the biggest award of the event – the Ultimate Choice Award for her continuous contributions to the world of pop and her involvement with Teen Choice. She has definitely transformed from a TV personality to a pop culture icon over the past decade. While Wonder Woman bagged the title of Choice Action Movie, its actors Gal Gadot and Chris Pine were awarded the Best Actor prizes. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Beauty and the Beast, Everything, Everything, Finding Dory, and Spider-man: Homecoming were other films that won big.

Shows like Riverdale, The Vampire Diaries, The Flash, and Fuller House won top prizes in the TV category. A lot of the awards in this section kept the crowd entertaining, signifying the popularity of TV shows in the current pop scene. Coming to music, Harry Styles, Arianna Grande, Fifth Harmony, Calvin Harris, and Beyoncé won Teen Choice awards in their respective categories. While “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran and “Crying in the Club” by Camilla Cabello were adjudged the best male and female songs, “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber took home the award for Choice Latin song. Its video also recently became the most-watched video on YouTube.

Chance the Rapper was dubbed the Choice Breakout Artists for his last album titled Coloring Book. In the social media, Ellen DeGeneres got the award for Choice twit; Selena Gomez and Jake Paul were given Choice awards for Best Instagrammer and YouTube respectively. Ariana Grande won Choice Snapchatter and Choice Change-maker, making us want to follow her more.
