Gabrielle Union’s hot fashion collaboration with New York & Company just got hotter! The “Being Mary Jane” star has designed a new collection for the popular franchise that will be in 335 stores around the country and online starting August 16th.
Gabrielle has partnered with New York & Company to design three new collections for the fall. She’ll also design three collections for Spring and other collections in the coming years.
In an interview recently Union stated why it was important to her to start her own line of affordable fashion. She says; “I wanted to offer on-trend fashion at affordable prices.” She said that friends and family as well as her fans would always ask her where she buys her clothes. So, that inspired her to come up with her own line.
New York & Company wanted Gabrielle to do what she wanted. She says they told her, “We want what you think is amazing. Usually when people come to you offering deals they give you a short leash. Not with New York & Co.”
The first collection that Union debuted was inspired by her “Being Mary Jane” character. She states; “I wanted that leadership element of my character to jump out.” Her goal is to offer a lot of variety, joggers, dresses, and bodysuits will be apart of the new collection. She wants to add accessories as well.
Most of Unions new collection retails for under $100 while some pieces will retail for $139.95. Gabrielle became a band ambassador of New York & Company in April of this 2017–she will continue to be in more adds for her line. Union plans to do appearances to promote the new line–and she’s also releasing a new book called “We’re Going To Need More Wine” on October 17th.
