Former fashion stylist of Beyoncé, Ty Hunter hosted a Houston Fashion Week event on Saturday. During Houston Fashion Week Ty introduced fashion shows by some of the most popular local designers in Texas including Chloe Dao, Travis Cal and legendary urban designer Karl Kani. Karl was honored with the Iconic Legacy award.
Devi Brown, who’s a former Houston radio DJ and founder of Karma Bliss, was given the Iconic Journalism award. Other honorees were; Dr. Anthony Nikko, Joy Hunter, Johnte’ Archer, Chloe Dao, and Joy Sewing.
Attendees of the event were fashion stylist and sister of Grammy Award winning gospel duo Mary Mary, Goo Goo Atkins who is the host of the internet show #GooRuStyle for We TV; Former NFL player Shaun Rodgers; Founder of Fashion Bomb Daily, Claire Sulmers; Bonang Matheba who’s the global ambassador for Revlon Cosmetics and has more than 1.4 million followers on Instagram.
Ty Hunter is originally from Austin, Texas and was working at BCBG when he was found by Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles Lawson 20 years ago. Tina hired him as her assistant in helping her style Destiny’s Child and daughter Beyoncé’s solo career. He later went on tour with Destiny’s Child and also toured with Beyoncé. Since then he has become of the most respected stylists in the industry. Hunter now has a popular clothing line called Served Fresh.
