The Challenge is one of MTV’s most popular reality TV shows to date—hitting its 30th season as of 2017.

The show has been on air for 19 years and 29 seasons; with contestants visiting 23 countries throughout. Season 30 is without a doubt the dirtiest season yet—The Challenge XXX: Dirty 30 certainly lives up to its name.

This season will feature more players than ever before; with the contestants visiting Cartagena, Colombia, to compete for a $1 million prize for the first time ever in the show’s history. However, the contestants have not been told about the amount of money waiting for them at the end of the season.

Every season of The Challenge has its fair share of conniving and deceitful players, but this year they decided to bring in the worst of the worst. We have noticed how numerous MTV shows, as well as other competition shows have larger cash prizes than The Challenge does.

Contestant Veronica Portillo told Variety, “It would have been a completely different game had that information been told to everybody at the beginning. People almost kill each other over the chance of splitting $300,000! It would have pushed people to other limits than the show has ever seen before.”

Reality TV stars undeniably get paid for publicly displaying their lives for everyone to see. Series executive producer, Jonathan Murray, toldVariety, “[The contestants] do get compensated just for showing up, and the longer they last, the more they get compensated, but I think it’s really more about the experience. It’s pretty cool to be thrown together with a group of people who you’ve sort of grown up with over the years. It’s like going to a college reunion.”

This season has a diverse cast with contestants from past seasons, as well as a couple of rookie’s thrown into the mix. Some of the best cast members, such as Johnny “Bananas” DevenazioChris “CT” TamburelloCamila Nakagawa, and Jenna Compono are back to compete in the craziest season yet.

We are super excited to see Veronica Portillo and Derrick Kosinki competing on this season of The Challenge after not competing for over 10 seasons. These two players are certainly veterans to the game; however, they appear as new players so-to-say in regard to not having relationships with many competitors on this season.

The redemption house is a new added factor to this season, and one we were all shocked to discover. Executive producer, Scott Freeman, toldVariety, “It works perfectly because they just didn’t see this coming. All of a sudden they’re showing up, and they’re like, ‘Why are there still cameras on me?’ It was such a season full of so many wonderful people, we were sort of greedy; we didn’t want to let them go! So we got to keep them around and have the audience have more fun with them.”

Will this season be the best one yet? We think so!
