How long have you been producing beats and making music in general?
I’ve been making music for five years. I started off freestyling with my homies, and started getting into making beats soon after. It was a long process, I feel like I only recently started getting good in Summer/Fall 2016. I have around 5 mixtapes from back in high school and all of them make me cringe. Only my day ones have that shit haha.
Everyone loves your voice and even though you’re so new to the scene we all feel like you’re going to make it far. You literally released your debut project days ago, and you’ve had good numbers. How it feel to have so much support right off the bat?
Everyone loves my voice?? Hahaha that’s cool. All the sudden support has been incredible. Sometimes I feel like I earned it from putting in work over the years. Other times it’s surreal hanging out at the studio and being invited to events and shit. It’s like what I dreamed about back in high school. It just makes the bigger dreams that much more tangible.
All the support and new musical relationships I’ve made have only made me better, and more motivated. I don’t really feel like I’m doing numbers though. I want a fan club and shit.
How would you describe your music? Is there a subgenre you could associate it with?
All of this new wave trap music has inspired my sound and production. I’m inspired by what goes around, and I try to include elements of the shit that gets popular. But I never just copy anything directly. I always make sure it sounds like Hotel more than anybody else. And I think the fact that I make almost all my beats really plays into that.
What are you most excited about for the future?
My biggest dream has always been going on tour. Until it happens, that’s my number one goal. Moving around the country with your best friends, jumping from hotel to hotel, playing amazing venues, making crowds jump, you get the picture.
You’re a part of Piranha Gang, can you explain a little bit more about your role in the collective of artists?
I’ve always been a very introverted person so working with a bunch of artists who all have a similar vision has really helped me open up as a person. Back in high school I felt like I couldn’t relate to anybody. Piranha Gang kind of adopted me into the family and it has been nice.
Is there a story behind your new mixtape Room Keys?
Room Keys will open many doors and opportunities for me.
Who inspired you to make music?
When I was young I was always drawn to rap and hip-hop. No idea why, I just always liked the music. Mac Miller inspired me to rap because he paved the way for all the white suburban rappers that came after. I was like if he can do it, so could I. Before I was into the trap style I was trying to be an indie rapper like him.
What’s next for you?
I’m actually almost done with the second mixtape. I stay making music. But I’ll be doing shows, photoshoots, working on my brand and image as an artist. This is just the beginning I promise.
