EMCEE Presents: XXXTentacion’s SKINS Release Party Recap

It has been almost six months since we faced tragedy and lost a phenomenal artist: XXXTentacion—but his legacy lives forever. XXXTentacion was in a deep embrace with the music world with his genre defying sounds. XXXTentacion finished his final project and left us with his masterpiece that now serves as memorabilia.

This past weekend was one of the biggest weekends for Miami, Florida as it hosted its annual Art Basel event. Art Basel weekend brings leading galleries from around the globe to showcase artist and host exhibitions that highlights a variety of art genres from street to blue chip art. Events centered around Basel are also held like XXXTentacion’s SKINS album release party powered by YesJulz and her 1AM Creative team.

The SKINS album release party landed at the RC Cola Plant, on Thursday, December 7th, 2018. The event featured the best in hip-hop’s past, present and future with special acts such as Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Trippie Redd, among others. The artists on the lineup performed prior and new releases they have featured with XXXTentacion alongside songs from their own catalogues. The lineup allowed XXXTentacion fans to memorialize X while sustaining his legacy in unison through his music.

Members Only also reunited on the big stage with Ski Mask The Slump God. The performance was not only filled with energy but was also a profound moment for fans as Members Only put their differences aside for XXXTentacion’s legacy.

The SKINS album was played twice by DJ Scheme for those in the audience before its actual release. The crowd hushed and stood in solidarity as they listened to his final masterpiece. The SKINS album release party also had art pieces on exhibit in ode to XXXTentacion, official SKINS merchandise and even an exclusive three-piece merchandise collection for the event designed by Kayne West.

This event was powered alongside Julz and 1AM by the XXXTentacion Foundation who was founded by his mother Cleo and majority of the proceeds from the event will be donated to his foundation that aids marginalized people and communities. The SKINS album release party was not only a success but also an affirmation that he truly lives forever through both his fans and music.
