Let’s discuss the opening act for the LCA, Kid Rock. Robert James Ritchie, known professionally as Kid Rock, is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, musician, record producer, and actor. His 1998 album Devil Without a Cause sold 14 million copies worldwide. On September 12th, Kid Rock will be gracing the stage of newly built LCA as an opening ceremony. Though he has tons of success, there are tons of Detroiters that feel Kid Rock is not a good pick to represent the message of “what Detroit represents.” He has been seen with controversial symbolism’s throughout his career and is said to run for Senate in the next election. With his strong attachment to the “Confederacy”, the recent rise in negative associations & with his continued support of President Trump, Detroiters wonder if someone else should be on the stage instead.
