Leather jackets are a must have during the fall season. They are the perfect layering tool and add an air of edgy luxury to even the most dressed down look. For plus size women, finding leather jackets in the proper sizing and fit is close to impossible and has been a significant gap in the plus size industry. Leather jackets either only run up to a size 20 US at best or, if available in extended sizes, are ill fitting and extremely unflattering.
Jeff Cafone, self-taught designer based in New York City, has listened to all the plus size leather jacket qualms and come to the rescue. He has released his first luxury collection exclusively in plus sizes 12-28+. Each of his leather jackets are bespoke made-to-measure for each client, providing a unique shopping experience usually reserved for straight sized individuals. In addition, his collection is comprised of other contemporary plus size pieces that pair effortlessly with his leather jackets, including cropped hoodies, dresses and sweaters to name a few.
Aside from finally providing leather jackets that fit plus bodies, Jeff Cafone actually listened and curated this line based on feedback from plus size women. The jackets are absolutely a splurge item, running upwards of $500, but this sets a precedent within the high-end, luxurious fashion community. Plus size women want the same access to quality, luxurious pieces and are willing to put their money into brands that provide this service. Jeff understands that the high-end market needs to cater more to plus sizes, defining his brand as “owning that space, and being the catalyst for improving fashion for the Plus community”.
