Last night the 2017 BET Awards aired live with show-stopping performances by Tamar Braxton, SZA, Bruno Mars and El Debarge to name a few. Judging from the buzz about last nights performances, it’s safe to say that the New BET’s tribute to New Edition stole the show! Edition tribute stole the show. New Edition received BET’s Lifetime Achievement Award and gave a performance worthy of the such an honor. Billboard ranked the performance as the best of the night, and an overwhelming response on social media shows that everyone watching agreed.

This year has been full of amazing moments for the super group, from their highly-praised TV biopic “The New Edition Story’ that broke ratings records on BET, to getting a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and now receiving the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award. New Edition’s tribute was highly energetic and fully displayed the classic choreography that the group was known for, featuring all the actors who starred in their biopic. The actors who played the younger New Edition in the film kicked it off by singing the hit song “Candy Girl” followed by Algee Smith who plays the role of Ralph Tresvant singing Ralph’s big solo hit “Sensitivity”. Next up was Luke James who plays Johnny Gill, performing Johnny’s signature hit “My My My” which brought the original members of New Edition who were watching from the crowd to their feet. To add to the energy of the performance Woody McClain who played RnB’s original bad boy Bobby Brown then sang “My Prerogative” combined with his electric dance moves, paying necessary homage to the infamous Bobby Brown. Lastly, Keith Powers who played Ronnie DeVoe, Elijah Kelley who played Ricky Bell and, Bryshere “Yazz” Grey who played Mike Bivins came together to perform Bell Biv DeVoe’s biggest hit “Poison”.

Just when the crowd thought the tribute was over, the original New Edition members hit the stage in all white and showed everyone they still got it. To finish out the electric set, New Edition performed “If It Isn’t Love” and, brought out all the actors also in matching white suits to perform with them. With an epic tribute performance we would like to congratulate New Edition on celebrating 35 years together and achieving BET’s highest honor. Check out the hot New Edition tribute on www.bet.com.
